What you will learn

By the end, you can name personal information, choose what to keep private and say who to ask when you are not sure.

Ana opens a fun quiz: "Which animal are you?" Before it starts, it asks for her full name, her school and her home address. Ana stops. An animal quiz does not need to know where she sleeps.

Read the explanation

Personal information tells who you are, where you are or how to reach you: full name, address, school, birthday, photos, passwords, phone number. Apps often ask for more than they need. You can say no, use a nickname, or ask a trusted adult first. Your information belongs to you.

  • A permission is when an app asks to use your camera, microphone, photos or location.
  • If an app asks for more than it needs, that is a reason to stop.
  • Asking a trusted adult is smart, not babyish.
