The recipe says 1 kg of flour, but the scale only shows grams. It says 1 litre of milk, but the jug is marked in millilitres. And the cake needs 45 minutes in the oven, starting at half past three. Tomas needs measures and time to get it right.

Measures come in big units and small units. A metre is 100 centimetres, a kilogram is 1000 grams, a litre is 1000 millilitres, and an hour is 60 minutes. To change big units into small ones, multiply. To find a later time, count on in easy steps.
- 1 m = 100 cm and 1 km = 1000 m.
- 1 kg = 1000 g and 1 l = 1000 ml.
- 1 hour = 60 minutes: count on to the next o’clock, then add what is left.
