What you will learn

By the end, you can point to every continent and ocean on a map and say its name.

Zoom out from your street, your town, your country… until the whole Earth fits on one screen. The land breaks into seven giant pieces. Can you name them all?

Read the explanation

A continent is a very large area of land. Earth has seven: Asia (the biggest), Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe and Australia/Oceania. The water between them forms five oceans: Pacific (the biggest), Atlantic, Indian, Southern and Arctic.

  • Asia is the largest continent; Australia/Oceania is the smallest.
  • The Pacific Ocean is bigger than all the land put together.
  • Antarctica is a continent covered in ice — no country owns it.
